Seat is a car manufacturer founded in 1950. Today the former Spanish state-owned enterprise belongs to the German Volkswagen Group.
Since 1986 Seat is part of the Audi/Volkswagen Group. Its principal office is located Martorell, which is located around 35 km northeast of Barcelona.
On March 10 in 1983 the Spanish brand penetrated the German market; first in cooperation with an import company, then, from 1986 onwards, as a subsidiary of its own, SEAT Deutschland GmbH. From that point on around 950,000 Seat vehicles have been imported into Germany. The vehicle population today amounts to more than 750,000 cars.
